The Facility: The Brookside Racquet and Swim Club has been open since July 6th and has had zero reportings of Covid-19 on their grounds. We will be using a secluded part of the warm water lake and outdoor grounds all day. Meals, sports and arts & crafts/science experiment will be enjoyed under tree and/or tent shaded areas.

Transportation: We can offer transportation to 12 campers, 6 will be in each vehicle. If you do not feel comfortable with your child going in one of the vehicles, you are welcome to drop off and pick up directly on site.

Staff: Our staff will be following CDC and NJ guidelines for camps and have been trained on implementing new health standards for summer camps.

Campers: We will be sending out a packing list prior to your camp week starting. Each family will be asked and required to fill out a MYSS Covid-19 Waiver Form.

Questions: We have compiled a list below of the questions you’ve sent us and will continue to add questions to this FAQs list periodically. Your feedback is important to us!

We signed up for 1 week of camp earlier in the summer, can we pick any of the 5 weeks camp is happening this summer?
Yes, you can choose any of the weeks and you have the option of using our transportation or dropping off and picking up at the lake.

We’re considering doing two weeks. Should we do them back to back or take a break between the two weeks and do every other week?
We find that most children will learn to swim in between one and three weeks of MYSS. Our recommendation is to have the weeks be scheduled back to back if possible as our campers need structure and routine after so much isolation but having a week off in between will still have great swimming benefits.

Are you going to still offer bussing to the new location?
Our transportation option is 2 suburbans, each has 6 seats for children. If your child is using a booster seat, please send it on the first day for the week.

We will be utilizing the pick-up and drop off service. Would they be at our place?
We are creating the most driver-friendly route each week depending on the addresses of the families who are registered. We will notify of the bus stop in the “Welcome & Packing List” email that goes out approximately one week before each week of schedule camp. Please look at the route each week that you are signed up for, as the stop may change week to week.

Will all people on the bus wear a mask?
We mandate that our staff wears a mask on the bus. We ask that our campers were a mask on the bus.

Are the hours similar?
Our camp hours are 10am – 4pm. Depending on the stops of our pick-up route, pick up will be around 9am/9:15am and drop off will be around 4:45pm.

Will the kids be swimming in a pool or lake?
The campers will be swimming in a manmade outdoor lake that is chemically maintained with chlorine.

Are there ropes or anything for the kids to swim to?
There are ropes that separate areas of the lake. These ropes, similar to lane lines in a pool are not something that we teach the children to swim to, swim on, or hold onto.

Is there any fish in the lake?
There are no fish in the man-made lake at Brookside.

How deep is it the lake?
The deepest area of the sandy lake goes to 7ft. All beginner, non-swimmers will be in on hip height waters and will have their floaties unless working one-on-one with their instructor.

Any considerations you have versus a pool?
The lake is chemically maintained with chlorine just like a pool!

We cannot wait to continue to provide opportunities for your children to continue learning to swim, having our school teacher staff back at work and enjoying what’s left of the summer season! Thank you so much for your patience, understanding, and kindness as we navigated these rough waters, now let’s go enjoy the flat water of the lake and make some memories!
